"Along the Seine"

pastel 10" x 13" 2001

This is my first image of Paris. I spent many hours walking across and along the Seine, our hotel being right nearby. I'm not sure which bridge this is, but it's near the Marais District. I have always loved drawing reflections in water, and this was a joy to do. It was not often sunny during the week I spent there, so I was happy to get this shot. Lots of bicyclists in Paris, many along the quais, and I would like to join them. I walked there in the evening, arm in arm with my Parisian cousin Brigitte, and came under its magic spell. A timeless spot for tranquillity and of course, romance. The Seine is the lifeblood of Paris. I felt it tug at my heart, and hope to bring my husband there.
