"Metropolitain"

pastel 13" x 20" 2002

Back in Paris, on a sunny and windy day, I found this great old Art Nouveau Metro sign. It may be on the Isle de la Cite or near the Hotel de Ville. I took so many photos that I lost track. Using the Metro is one of the rights of passage in Paris. On my arrival, I listened to an accordionist, playing for her supper in the Metro stop. And smiled at the handsome young man, wandering though our train, playing his joyful songs. It changed my opinion of this instrument. I now listen to CDs of Musette in my studio, to remember the evocative sounds of Paris.
