"Fields of Sunflowers III"

pastel 20" x 26" 2002

I just cannot stop drawing these sunflowers! They sing to me. In this one I tried to be a bit looser, rearranging quite a bit of the background. I first saw fields of sunflowers in Spain in 1971, and was thrilled to find them surrounding the home of my dear cousins near Toulouse- such a riot of color, and good for the local economy. They grow them mostly for making oil. So it's good for our health, too! Bon.
