"U.C. Campanile, Winter Morning"

pastel 26" x 10" 2003

On a crisp, glowing January morning, I headed up the hill to capture the special light on the campanile on campus. This was suggested by my photographer friend Elizabeth Opalenik. Campanile means bell tower, so it’s a companion piece to my Church Bell Tower in France (a misnomer). I love the way the City shines beyond. It looks like Oz. I hope to learn more about this lovely structure. Can you give me a story?
