"Café Zeste at Strawberry Creek Design Center"

pastel 13" x 18" 2005

I was thrilled when my old friends, Bahman and Ruben, decided to open a café and catering business at Strawberry Creek Design Center, right below my studio. So I had to draw it. This is a bustling building, full of creativity, energy and great people, adjacent to the delightful creek and park. (www.strawberrycreekonline.com). Here Ruben invites you in to taste his delectable lunches, now expanded with their new full kitchen. I loved his cooking at the former Santa Fe Bar & Grill nearby, and later at the Santa Fe Bistro. My artwork graced the walls then and now. Friendly Bahman chats with the owners of Buddy, a dog very anxious to chase that squirrel. This park is dog walkers central. And I had to draw Mary Shea in her colorful outfit. It turns out to be another unique design by Carol Lee, who shared a wonderful studio here with Susan Brooks for many years. These and other artists have left, but new artists keep arriving, and our Open Studios twice a year continue to be lively. Check us all out!
