"Galette on Fillmore St. S.F."

pastel 11" x 16" 2004

In the bustling Fillmore neighborhood I love, this creperie serves authentic buckwheat galettes of Normandy. My French mother, Yvonne, is shown deciding which to try. And the friendly waiter, Esmé is bringing out the popular bowl of café´au lait. This is a companion piece to both my Crepes en L’Isle in Paris, and La Boulangerie on Pine St., SF, also owned by Pascal Rigo. I feel it too has the flavor of France, yet also that je ne sais quoi of San Francisco.
