"Narrow Street in Provence"

pastel 26" x 10" 2002

This mysterious rouelle is typical of the old streets in Europe, in this case Cotignac, France. It was shot with a panoramic disposable camera, and starts my series of long, thin slices. My cousin Brigitte and I were wandering around the town and spotted the unusual mosaic table top jutting out into the street. Inside the shop we were impressed and charmed by the handsome and talented artist. His large works were spectacular and colorful, depicting animals as well as intricate designs. He was very busy with commissions, but happy to speak with a fellow artist, as was I.
